The WorldSkills Competition is a flagship event organized by WorldSkills International, held every two years. This competition is the largest global platform dedicated to vocational education and skills excellence, showcasing the highest standards of practice across various industries. It provides a unique opportunity for young professionals to demonstrate their skills and network with peers and industry leaders from around the world.

The 47th WorldSkills Competition took place from September 10 to September 15, 2024, in Lyon, France. This year, the competition welcomed 1,400 competitors from nearly 70+ countries. Participants showcased their skills across a diverse range of disciplines, including technology, craftsmanship, and service industries, reflecting the evolving landscape of global employment.

India proudly participated in the competition, sending a well-prepared delegation comprising 60 competitors and 52 experts. The Indian team showcased their participation in 52 skills.

The competition included 12 female competitors. This strong female representation highlights India’s commitment to promoting gender equality in vocational fields. Of the 52 skills, seven were designated as team skills, emphasizing collaboration and teamwork in real-world scenarios. These skills included: Manufacturing Team Challenge, Robot System Integration, Industry 4.0, Cyber Security, Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics and Concrete Construction Works.
